How I am Learning

Image result for basketball creative commonsThis week I met with a close family friend who has done some extensive work in the field of adapted sports.  My friend worked at the U.S. Paralympics facility where she learned the different ways people with limited abilities are able to compete in athletics.  She taught me how her and her colleagues come up with activities for people with physical disabilities.  The most important thing I learned from my friend is that with limited mobility people cannot compete the same as others, so instead of trying to push through the problems that might arise you can try to find new ways to go around them. I think that this will help me in the future by allowing me to understand the difficulties the children are facing and allow me to help them create a new way to overcome them.  In the future I think that this experience will help me understand how to confidently face problems and find different creative solutions to problems.  Thank you for reading!

  1. I like how you plan to work around the problems with people with disabilities, one question I have is what are some ways you plan to work around the problems with people with disabilities.

  2. Hey Harrison! I like how you're keeping an open mind about how you will help the disabled kids with your basketball clinic. May I suggest that you teach those in wheelchairs how to play the wheelchair version of the game?

  3. Harrison, I really like way you are trying to help others to find the joy of sports. I would advice you to think about talking to more people that are more experienced to help you find way to make what you are doing successful.

  5. Harrison, your project seems to being going so well so far! It is so great that you have come in contact with someone you can learn so much from. The only advice I have is to get past the learning stage and put all of your ideas into action! Great job.

  6. It's good that you're referring to your mentors and friends for this project, the more the merrier like they say. Referring back to these people when you run into trouble spots will also be beneficial down the road.
